Uploading Interface Files
Location:
The Uploading Interface Files function enables uploading interface files from the user's workstation to the application server. Interface files can be uploaded if the Uploading Interface Files access right is enabled in the user profile and the user level is Administrator.
In the File Type section, you specify the type of the uploaded interface file:
- Description File is used for uploading description files for processing ASCII files. Description files can also be viewed in the Manage Description Files function (Settings > Other settings and Materials > Manage Description Files).
- Conversion File is used for uploading XSLT conversion files for processing XML files.
In the Source Data section, you specify the material type of the uploaded interface file. This option specifies the material to which the uploaded interface file is related. The available choices are the same as in the File Type section.
If the target directory on the application server already contains a file of the same name, it will be replaced by the file uploaded by the user. There are, however, limitations regarding updating files:
- It is not possible to use the Uploading Interface Files function for updating the default interface files that were installed during the product installation.
- An interface file that has been uploaded by another user may only be updated by a user with system-level company access rights. In this case, the user will be prompted for a confirmation.
After the upload, the interface file will be available for use in the application in interfaces of the relevant material type. Any interface file uploads are recorded in the Modification Log.
