Posting Dimension Values

Location: Settings > Posting Settings > Posting Dimension Values

It is possible to define the posting dimension values applicable to a company, a group of companies, or to the whole system. Posting the dimension values are not tied to the chart of accounts. Posting dimension values are set at the organizational level where you want them to show up.

Note: If posting dimensions values are defined, even for just one posting dimension, at a certain organizational level, these values are not shown from upper organization levels, not even for other posting dimensions.

You can search for posting dimensions by entering a value (or the first part of it) into the input field that is next to the Name field and then by clicking the Update button. The list of posting dimensions is updated according to the search results.

Searching is possible by two data types: posting dimension code or posting dimension description. The header of the input field of the search operation functionality tells at which column the search is aimed. The search is directed to the data type, according to which the posting dimensions are sorted. For example, by sorting the list by posting dimension description, the title of the input field is updated to "Description", and posting dimensions can be searched based on the description.

If it is defined in the entry rules that a posting dimension typed in by a user is to be examined, the application checks that the posting dimension value typed in the user’s posting is found on the Posting Dimension Values page. The allowed posting dimension values can also be specified in the Organization Structure on organization unit level and/or member level.

It is possible to read the posting dimension values from an external system. Importing the values requires that correct Interface definitions have been saved for importing. For more information, see Importing Basic Data into the Application.
